ATI TEAS 7 Study Guide: What's on It & How to Score High
The ATI TEAS 7 (Test of Essential Academic Skills) is one of the most common nursing-program admission tests. Here’s exactly what it covers and how to lift your composite score.
The four TEAS 7 sections
The TEAS 7 covers Reading, Math, Science, and English & Language Usage. Science carries the most weight for most nursing applicants because of its anatomy & physiology focus.
How many questions and how long?
170 questions total (150 scored, 20 unscored), with 209 minutes of testing time. The science section has the most questions.
What's a good TEAS 7 score?
Scores map to levels (Basic, Proficient, Advanced, Exemplary). A composite of 65% (Proficient) or higher is generally competitive; selective programs often want 70–80%+.
Where to focus
- Science / A&P — the biggest point opportunity; study body systems hard.
- Math — no calculator on some content; drill fractions, proportions, and unit conversions.
- Reading — practice pulling main ideas and inferences quickly under time.
